Plans for Tonight Going to BED

TODAY'S HEADLINES, HILARIOUS JUNK, AND SIDE STORIES

Yes I told you the last issue that I was off to bed but I forgot to check my email and receive something cool beans. Check it out............

Japan: Boxes of "Glico chocolate pocky" -- pen-shaped wheat crackers dipped in chocolate -- are popular, as are cups of iced oolong tea and Japanese beer.

China: Coconut juice, tofu gan (dried bean curd in sweet or spicy sauce), roasted sunflower seeds, and salty plums can be stowed on "tea tables" between seats in some luxury cinemas.

Thailand: Traditional snacks -- such as fried meatballs with chili sauce or papaya salad with dried shrimp, chili, and lime -- have been banned in many big-city theaters because they're too pungent, but you can still pick up a pack of chewy dried squid strips at the concession stand.

Tonga: Besides fresh fruits, such as mangoes, guavas, and oranges, moviegoers eat skewers of baked ifi (small fruits that taste a bit like peanuts).

France: Sweet popcorn, ice cream bars, and chocolates are dispensed from baskets by ouvreuses -- usually female vendors in striped uniforms, who wander the aisles before show time.

Greece: Pasteli (sesame seed/honey candies), ouzo, souvlaki, roasted pumpkin seeds, and yogurt with honey are all consumed at popular outdoor cinemas. In the winter, roasted chestnuts are a top pick.

Holland: Common eats include drop (salty licorice in such shapes as guilders, diamonds, and farm animals), and ijsje (ice cream on a stick).
